The Mason and Bunning Families of Beeston
Edward Mason, a lace designer from Radford and Lenton, moved to Beeston around 1880 and opened the Queens Hotel. In this venture he was joined by Samuel Theodore Bunning, who had arrived in Beeston as Station Master before moving into the brewing and the licensed trade - eventually controlling Beeston Brewery and a wide portfolio of licensed houses in the wider local area. The two men were related by marriage and both prospered - Bunning exceptionally so.
